still her best album over a decade later (though married in mount airy is a CLOSE close second). i will never not absolutely adore it.

truly honestly checked this out bc of the proship darkship whatever 25 year old ethel cain fans and did my own seperate deep dive on her and i cant even lie and say something nice about her bc there is nothing nice to say. the usual tumblrisms and cheap lolita mess as usual but i won’t get too mean here cus shes comforting to some of yall i guess and i tried to seperate my feelings and still could barely stay awake throughout this whole thing and i have nothing against this type of thing. shes trying to do. not doing, just trying. usually the defense for these artists obsessed w everything disgusting under the sun is the music is telling something compelling and doing something with the taboo topics and i dont feel that here besides some metaphorical language and like thats the extent to it. gets so on the nose by track 8 i think it becomes self aware. nice vocal arrangements and singing tone in some parts but overrall yall need to just start saying u into the same stuff and dont bring this lifeless music into it

I really don’t care that I gave multiple tracks 8.5-8.8s and gave the album in general a 10. The tracks on their own V.S. in the context of the album’s imagery improve the score up to a 10 for me.

Nicole Dollanganger’s hauntingly gorgeous 2016 record “Natural Born Losers” is an angelic, painfully confessional album with gorgeous imagery. Dollanganger’s soft-spoken lullaby voice alongside the dark, gruesome and depressing lyrics shows an amazing contrast that feels creepy and cute. Compared to some of her other work, this one is professionally produced unlike her past work, I personally like the stripped back production but that is just my opinion. I think the lryics are the part that get me the most, i think she is one of the best songwriters of our generation in my humble opinion, her abilities really shine through “In The Land” and “Angels Of Porn II”. All in all it is easily one of my favourite albums of all time, she is such a talented singer-songwriter and i highly recommend this! (i am not ai just well spoken i promise 😢)
