been waiting for this for a while, was really excited cause of the previous collabs that these two have done, and let’s say I am pretty happy. it’s obviously not my favourite Paak album but there are some bangers on here. production is great, and I love that they referenced some older songs in their lyrics. I think the more I listen the more I’ll love it. great work from them two.

Today I decided to listen to Heavy is the Crown by these two artists. At first, I thought, well, I'll give it a chance; maybe it'll be one of those albums that surprises you, and it really did, wow.
The production on this album is incredibly insane, using a super chill sound, and well, nothing simple or super fast like what's popular these days. This album has a sound that reminds me a bit of J. Cole in some songs.
The performance of both artists on every track is another thing that definitely stands out; they're both fantastic. I'd say the album is practically flawless, and I'm surprised by the final rating, especially since it's only the first listen. I'm going to listen to it again to see what I think, but I gave it a 9.2 the first time. Maybe it will improve a lot more over time, or maybe it will drop. Who knows?

Pretty laid back album, fun lyrics (alot of references to other songs i caught lmao), great chemistry, just a little underwhelming. One of the best albums this year... except it doesnt have much competition.. 😬

Top 3 rap albums released this year. I already love these artists by themselves, but together they’re even better! The album starts of with 58th floor giving us that energy, and then switches to a calmer vibe with You’re mine. The production was insane, I heard J Cole worked on this project. If that’s true, it’s no surprise that it was amazing. Perfect rapping by both of them. Their chemistry is actually insane, definitely one of my favorite rap duo’s oat. Amazing project, definitely worth checking out.

An Anderson Paak. and Cordae collab is like peanut butter and jelly, they’re good by themselves. But together, they’re a masterpiece.
It’s crazy to see how far this duo has come since 2019. From arguably their best song RNP, to their two songs on The Crossroads, now to an entire album. With the run the two have been on, you may actually think they’re step-brothers. I mean they just have so much chemistry. It’s honestly amazing how they can just keep going verse after verse with each other.
The energy on the first 4 tracks makes them all unskippable. Honestly it may just be the best run for songs I’ve heard from Cordae. Then we get to the more slow and calmish tracks which are good but not as good as the first 4. I won’t lie, the beat selection did feel a little repetitive but it’s still enjoyable.

I was a lil disappointed but it’s still top 5 album this year imo.

Heavy Is The Crown is a pretty decent collab project from Anderson Paak and Cordae.
To be honest, there isn’t really anything specific to say about this album. Good production, good rapping and some pretty nice lyricism in places help to solidify this as a neat 7/10.
I particularly loved ‘A Good Day’, and its sample of Bill Withers’ ‘Lovely Day’. Bill’s version is one of my favourite songs of all time and it was pretty nice to hear it in a more modern medium (even though it doesn’t hold a candle to the original).
Some songs are a little bit more iffy. Other songs such as ‘Karma Tax’ are a little bit more boring and flow a little less cleanly, but they still aren’t bad per se, just a little bit less enjoyable.
Overall, this is a fun little project, just not one that will live long in the memory- but that’s not inherently a bad thing. The rap duo have put together an inoffensive performance with some nice production from some guests like J.Cole that was enjoyable throughout its whole duration.

I really love the way that this album starts off. The first 4 songs. So much energy and such good songs. All of the 4 songs. But then it tires out a bit with You’re Mine and we get back a little bit with Days Go By and Crown that are decent tracks but we never get back to the same level and same energy we have in the first 4 songs. And that is sad because it was really promising this album after the first 4 songs. I thought AOTY shouts, but it can’t be album of the year.
I will also say that Anderson .Paak was better than Cordae on this album. Not that Cordae was bad but the situations many times was he had some decent verses and then Anderson got a better verse in the same song. I have 3 songs Cordae is better and 8 songs Anderson is better. The 3 songs Cordae is better is 58th Floor, Days Go By, and Godfather II. But I want them to make a collab album again because it think it’s really promising and can become very good.

Wow, what a duo, pretty cool production too, to bad the song Airbender is so short, reminds me of the chemistry on a song like otis

Great album. The chemistry between them is like brothers. Beats are nuts. Sadly no features and no hooks like Paak on Ensalada. Rating - 9/10
