This is arguably the best mixtape of all time. Mac never fails to come through on any song on this record. I think we see some of Mac’s best wordplay on this mixtape with bars like “Isn't he dizzy off the ups and downs? He got a lil' Whitney, put it in a blunt for now(smoke)Shit was supposed to get me high Why the fuck I wanna die now?” And “I spit that prayer hand emoji, that shit that injured Kobe, The holiest of holy, Nick Nolte in some Oakley's” which is him saying that his bars are heavenly and that they can defeat Kobe which is a funny nod to Kobe’s 2013 injury which ultimately had a big factor in his retirement a few years later. Also on this mixtape Mac has his most foreshadowed quotes with lyrics like “I’m a bit surprised that I’m even still alive Mixin’ uppers and downers practically suicide” and “Give no fucks when I go nuts ‘cause I smoke dust, overdosed on the sofa, dead”. Another lyric where it can be interpreted as a prediction of his death with “Suppose I’ll die from an overdose of some sort”. But Mac also has some of his most introspective quotes like on colors and shapes, for example “He told me, ’'Son, if you want to hold onto yourself Then let yourself slip’' Which There is a common teaching of many esoteric schools of thought as well as religions such as buddishm that you need to surrender. You must let go of trying to control, this is what the ego wants, but if you allow yourself to just go where the current takes you, things will work out. Also the features on this album do not disappoint, whether it’s da$h on “New Faces V2” or earl sweatshirt on most of the album and Sir Micheal Rocks on “what do you do” Mac also on “New Faces V2 hits the listener with a amazing double entendre bar saying “All my life, I’ve been afraid of powder All my life, I’ve been afraid of power, where did all that go? (Gone)” Which means Mac is saying that throughout his life, he was scared of “powder” (cocaine), but in reality he was afraid of the ability to do anything that people say comes with the use of cocaine. “Power” could also refer to literal power in the sense of being a famous icon. ‘Where did all that go?“ could also have a double meaning and refer to the lines of cocaine going away/not being there anymore because he snorted it. Furthermore I think the last track “Grand Finale” is a really strong finish. I also like how when Mac says “are you ready for the fireworks” you hear faint fireworks going off throughout the song which is a really nice touch. Another thing is that the bonus track “Yeah” is a masterpiece and has really amazing piano keys throughout the track which is a highlight on the whole mixtape for me with Mac talking about his own mortality once again saying “then one day we’ll die, no one will care” And one of the most emotional bars on the lp being “is it my time? Can I stop running” which means Mac has been running away from death while dealing with his drug addictions, if it is indeed his time, he can stop running and finally get inner peace. Overall this album is an amazing mix of heavy laced psychedelic rap with some of Mac’s best production and wordplay that is a raw depiction of substance abuse and Mac’s own morality that is a classic record and hands down the best mixtape of all time.

This album is a crazy journey. 25 tracks and virtually no skips, insane lyricism that gives us a window into a heavily troubled mind, and super distinct and varied production. Mac Miller went into isolation for months to create this album, and it really shows musically and creatively throughout the project. Multiple all time songs like Here We Go, Diablo, Rain, etc can all be found on here. Overall a long, extremely consistent project that could be considered one of the best mixtapes of all time.

One of the best mixtapes ever released. Top 3 in my opinion. Mac shows his true talent on his 2014 mixtape (released 2021) faces with a variety of songs all sounding unique in their own ways. A very skilled artist in terms of rapping. Love this project

Why I Think Faces Is a 10/10 In my opinion, Mac Miller’s Faces is his best project and a 10/10. Its dark production, unpredictable style, and honest lyrics make it stand out. Mac explores different moods, struggles, and experiences while experimenting with his sound. Songs like “Diablo,” “San Francisco,” “Friends,” and “New Faces v2” show his creativity. Overall, Faces is atmospheric, personal, and unforgettable, making it my favourite Mac Miller album.

Q: Did I glaze this album? A: Yes. Q: Is the glaze deserved? A: Also yes. Do you know that feeling when you listen to a piece of music that you haven’t heard forever and all the memories just start flooding in like a tsunami wave. That’s how I feel. I can visibly see where I was when I listened to each individual one of these songs. For example, I remember listening to Colors and Shapes right after my ex broke up with me. I was heartbroken and that song just gave such a warm and needed embrace. I could never imagine me not giving this piece of art a first chance. 90 minutes of pure perfection with some of the most personal and introspective thoughts I’ve ever heard. Faces really makes me think about life. It feels like I suddenly gained a conscious that wasn’t already present that has some of the best ideas for my own self improvement. This might be my most heartfelt review of all time and it’s because this mixtape really means something to me. Rest in peace Mac Miller, and thank you for making music. Also, fuck that bald headed, 40 year-old, so called music critic Anthony Fantano for giving this album a Strong 6. Your ratings mean nothing if you would ever give this mixtape a 6/10.

Didn’t expect to like this as much as I did. Mac expresses his mental state very well on this mixtape. The production is very good and his rapping too. The only problem I have with this, is the length. It kind of drags, but because all the songs are high quality it doesn’t change my rating much

this is my favorite project like ever i fucking love it This mixtape is one of the most accurate deep dive not just into mac’s battle with drug addiction and mental health but just the cycles of addiction mental health and life itself and with the fate of mac and how personal introspective and reflective not only lyrically but sonically makes it just 10x more disturbing this mixtape has has completely rewired my brain on Mortality so thats something cool

10/10 Faces is such a crazy mixtape. It feels like Mac just letting us inside his head for a few hours. It’s dark, messy, funny, depressing and beautiful all at once. What I love most is how honest Mac sounds throughout the whole thing. There’s so much about drugs, death, loneliness, depression and self-destruction, but he never makes it feel like he’s just trying to shock you. There’s always something underneath it. Diablo is obviously insane, and Friends is one of those songs that I can listen to over and over. But Faces has so many moments where Mac just completely loses himself in the music. The production is weird, the flows are all over the place, and somehow it all makes sense together. Knowing what happened to Mac makes this mixtape even harder to listen to sometimes. There are moments where he talks about things that feel almost too close to what eventually happened, and I can’t help but think about how much he was struggling while making this. But I don’t want to reduce Faces to that. It’s way more than a sad mixtape that became more meaningful after his death. Mac was incredibly creative here, and there’s so much personality in every song. 10/10. It’s dark as hell, but somehow I always find myself coming back to it. Faces feels like Mac gave us a piece of his mind, and I’m grateful we got to hear it.
