LUX

ROSALÍA Album

stunning piece of art. i strongly believe that this kind of music is not meant for everyone to understand, and its a hard concept to grasp if you dont have ur views open. she made this to filter her audience because it requires active listening. the primary base is classical arrangements, opera, lots of strings, and a symphonic orchestra, while still retaining the essential emotional weight and movements of flamenco theater on the track lrdp. i especially love the lyrics and the themes of the tracks, with her blending all different kinds of languages, not to mention her out of this world vocals and auditory representations. ultimately, this album is beautiful. its an art piece. its not something easily understood, and it demands patience and for you to rise to meet it.

The Resistance

Muse Album

having been released in 2009, this album was often criticized for its lyricism and being “paranoid” or “dramatic,” when in fact it was an accurate prediction of how the world is today. the fusion of rock and classical music was beautiful, especially with the frontman's tenor vocals and harmonies. i really liked the theatrical feeling of this, and listening to it awoke something within me, and you can hear how much ambition they had while making this. great work.

HEART MAID

SUNMI Album

very happy for her; however, this wasnt really what am i used to from sunmi, and i cant tell if im okay with it or dislike it. out of 13 songs, i liked 4. many of these songs start well and then finish in a predictable way, where the song structures blend rather than surprise me. while i loved her songwriting on this project, it also lacked the sharpness of the past ones. wish she couldve gathered more audience with this project, but sadly, the majority of it lacked the potential to grab the audience the way her past projects did. overall, brave, uneven, but okay.

TUNE & PLAY

TUIDE Album

very delectable no skip debut ep. i expected this of veterans who worked on it, such as groovyroom, eunjae and partly moon sujin. so 90s and 00s, i love it, but im especially very pleased with the themes of the songs being more sisterhood rather than romantic themes at their age. while some tracks felt short, it was fine to me since its a debut. cute and enjoyable; looking forward to more music.
